WHK are Proud to Support Blue September
Blue September is about getting the word out about prostate cancer.
This Friday 30th September, our WHK offices are dressing up in blue, painting their faces and donning blue clothing - and in return donating money to help our community and raise awareness.
Blue September is the Prostate Cancer Foundation's national awareness campaign.
This year, the campaign takes on even more significance with the rate of annual deaths resulting from prostate cancer in New Zealand increasing from over 550 to 670 every year. That is 600 fathers, sons, brothers, grandfathers - gone! This happens because men don't know how dangerous the disease is, they don't talk to their doctor about it, and they simply don't do anything about it. This has to stop. Prostate cancer can be prevented if detected early enough...
What should you do?
• Take responsibility for your health
• Having regular health check-up and PSA blood check from age 40 - and a DRE prostate check from age 50 - or age 40 if you have a family history of cancer
