Principal

Prior to joining WHK in 2002, Steve worked for a small Chartered Accountancy firm in Hastings, and prior to that in investment banking in the UK and was involved with the flotation of dot com companies.  That was preceded by 3 years working for KPMG Wellington.

Steve became an Associate Principal with WHK in 2004, then Principal in 2006.  In 2007 he also became a Team Leader.

Steve cares about his clients, helping them grow their business and personal wealth.  Also rewarding for Steve is helping young accountants grow and develop their technical skills, grow confidence and establish their own client base.

Specialising in business structures (trusts, companies etc.), franchising, business valuations and general tax advice, Steve works with clients in the wine industry, engineering and transport.  Steve also specialises in working with Franchise owners and operators, from preparing business plans (including fund applications) to working with his clients to help overcome barriers to growth.

By being proactive, Steve ensures his clients' business structures are tax efficient, that asset protection issues are addressed, and that opportunities to grow wealth are identified and explored.

Steve enjoys the responsibility of looking after his clients' financial affairs and the trust they put in him.  He finds it satisfying to have clients value his input and recognise a great result.  Helping clients reach their goals is the main highlight of his job, but Steve also believes that WHK's young and spirited team makes it a vibrant and exciting environment to work in.

Steve is a member of the NZ Institute of Chartered Accountants.
